Odoo for food and beverage businesses

Point of Sale at the counter, recipes that take ingredients out of stock, ingredient purchasing, expiry dates, several branches and online orders, for bakeries, cafés and caterers.

When nobody knows what a croissant costs to make

Recipes live in the head baker’s notebook, so the cost of each item is a guess. Ingredients get ordered when someone notices the shelf is empty.

Each branch closes its till on its own. Catering orders arrive by phone and WhatsApp, and the kitchen hears about a large order the day before.

In Odoo a recipe is a bill of materials. Each sale takes its ingredients out of stock, so you know what you have, what an item costs to make and what to order next.

How Odoo handles it

All of this is standard Odoo. We set it up for your menu, branches and kitchen.

  • Point of Sale for counters and tables

Each branch gets a Point of Sale with your menu, table plans for dine-in, and orders sent to kitchen printers or screens.

  • Recipes as bills of materials

Each menu item has a bill of materials listing its ingredients. A sale takes those ingredients out of stock, and the bill gives you the cost of each item.

  • Daily production

Bakeries and central kitchens plan batches with manufacturing orders, which use up ingredients and add finished goods to stock.

  • Ingredient purchasing

Reordering rules create purchase orders when flour, butter or coffee drops below the level you set.

  • Expiry dates

Ingredients and finished goods tracked by lot with expiry dates, so you see what to use first and what to throw away.

  • Several branches

Each branch has its own Point of Sale and stock, and transfers from a central kitchen or store are recorded.

  • Online and catering orders

An Odoo website shop for online orders, and catering quotations with a delivery date, confirmed and invoiced in the same system.

Questions from bakeries, cafés and caterers

Can Odoo deduct ingredients when we sell a cake or a coffee?

Yes. Set the menu item up with a bill of materials, and each sale at the Point of Sale takes its ingredients out of stock.

Does it work for dine-in, takeaway and delivery?

Point of Sale handles tables for dine-in and takeaway orders at the counter. Delivery orders can come in through an Odoo website shop.

We have a central kitchen that supplies the branches. Can Odoo handle that?

Yes. The central kitchen produces with manufacturing orders, and transfers move the goods to each branch’s stock.

What hardware do we need?

Odoo Point of Sale runs in a web browser, so a tablet, PC or touch screen works. Receipt and kitchen printers, cash drawers and scales can be connected. We check what you already have before you buy anything new.

Can the menu and receipts be in Arabic?

Yes. Odoo runs in Arabic and English, and the Point of Sale screens and receipts can be set up in either.
